North District detectives arrest man for two burglaries

INCIDENT LOCATION: 4400 Crittenden Ave.

INDIANAPOLIS –  Just before 6:30 p.m., on July 16, 2019, North District Officers were dispatched to the 4400 block of N. Crittenden Ave on a report of a burglary in progress.  Officers arrived and spoked to the homeowner who advised officers that he confronted the burglar and the burglar fled on foot.  Additional officers quickly arrived and were able to search the area.  Officers located 27-year-old Derek Ellis hiding in a neighboring yard.

Detectives arrested Ellis for his alleged involvement in this incident. During the investigation detectives have identified Ellis as having involvement in an incident occurring in the 5000 block of Kingsley on July 15, 2019. The Marion County Prosecutors Office will review the cases and make a charging decision.

A charge of a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
