Morgan County Crash involving Semi Tractor Trailer Kills Martinsville Teen

Martinsville – Tuesday evening just after 5:30 pm, Indiana State Police Troopers responded to a crash that occurred on State Road 37 at the intersection of State Road 44 involving a semi-tractor trailer and a sports utility vehicle.

The investigation revealed that a 2007 Freightliner Semi Tractor Trailer was traveling northbound on State Road 37 approaching the intersection of State Road 44. The intersection is controlled by traffic lights in all directions. It was then discovered by investigators, the 2007 Freightliner driven by Beau Siler, 35 of Bronson, Michigan had disregarded the automatic traffic signal and proceeded through the intersection, striking a westbound 2004 Chevy Blazer, driven by Wyatt Saylor, 19 of Martinsville.

Investigators found Saylor had the right of way and was proceeding under a green light at the time of the crash.

Saylor was pronounced dead at the scene. Notification has been made to the family.

The crash is still under investigation and no arrests have been made. The roadway was shut down for nearly four hours while emergency personnel investigated the scene.
