Metro detectives investigate after two victims are found shot to death in a vehicle

INDIANAPOLIS – Detectives with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department are investigating after two victims are found with at least one gunshot wound in a vehicle off the interstate.

Just before 2:30 a.m. this morning, officers were dispatched to West 25th Street and Shriver Avenue reference a personal injury accident. Officers were later informed that a vehicle may have veered off the interstate (I-65 S/B) onto Shriver Avenue. Officers arrived and found a silver SUV resting on the interstate embankment. Inside the vehicle officers found two unidentified victim’s suffering from apparent signs of trauma. EMS personnel arrived and pronounced both victims as deceased.

Detectives were subsequently informed by Crime Scene Specialist that both victims suffered from apparent signs of gunshot trauma. Both victims have been identified however notification to next-of-kin is still in process.  At this time, detectives do not believe that the vehicle was on the interstate when the shooting occurred. Physical evidence indicates that the driver of the SUV may have driven up the embankment hit the retaining wall and came back down. This is an active investigation and detectives are following up on lead information.
