Indianapolis, IN – Detectives from the Indiana State Police are actively investigating a shooting that occurred on I-465 Saturday evening. Troopers and paramedics were called to the area of I-465 southbound near I-74 on the city’s east side at 7:41 p.m. for reports of a person shot. When Trooper Ty Mays arrived he found a male victim with a gunshot wound to the face. Mays rendered first aid to the victim until medics arrived. The male victim was transported to an area hospital in stable condition and is expected to recover. There were two other people in the vehicle, neither were injured.
Preliminary investigation has led detectives to believe an occupant of a red or maroon four door passenger car, possibly a Chevrolet Malibu, Chrysler 300 or similar style vehicle, pulled along side the victim’s car, a white 2005 Chrysler, and fired a gun at least once. One bullet struck the driver of the white Chrysler in the face. The suspect vehicle then fled the scene.
Currently, detectives are interviewing witnesses and following leads. The motive of this crime is unknown however this is not believed to be a random shooting. The investigation is ongoing and there is no further information to release at this time.
