Lt. Gov. Crouch, IHCDA launch crowdfunding campaign for a Brownsburg playground

Brownsburg, Ind. (May 9, 2022) Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch and the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) today launched a crowdfunding campaign for a playground in Brownsburg.

Brownsburg residents will soon see improved accessibility and new play features within their beloved Blast Off Playground if this crowdfunding campaign reaches its goal of raising $25,000 by June 22, 2022. If successful, the project led by the Town of Brownsburg Parks will receive a matching grant as part of the IHCDA’s CreatINg Places program.

“We are excited to renovate this playground that has been a community staple for 21 years,” Crouch said. “These upgrades will make this park safer, more accessible and expand activities for children to enjoy for years to come.”

Funds from this campaign will be used to replace large parts of the wooden structures with recycled plastic lumber, add sensory play elements and improve surfacing and seating to allow more community members to enjoy the space.

“The Blast Off Playground has clearly been loved by Brownsburg families for years,” said Town Council President Travis Tschaenn. “We are thrilled to partner with IHCDA’s CreatINg Places program to bring our community together and provide all children access to play opportunities for many more generations.”

The CreatINg Places program began in 2016, projects have raised more than $6.1 million in public funds and an additional $4.9 million in matching IHCDA funds.

The program is available to projects located in Indiana communities. Non-profit entities (with 501c3 or 501c4 status) and Local Units of Government are eligible to apply.

Eligible projects must have a minimum total development cost of $10,000, where the recipient will receive $5,000 in IHCDA matching funds should it successfully raise $5,000 through Patronicity. IHCDA will provide matching grant funds up to $50,000 per project.
