This year’s recipient is Sergeant Greg Day of the Indiana State Police at the Bloomington Post.
Bloomington District Commander Paul Bucher nominated Sgt. Day and used these words to describe him;

For several years, Greg has displayed leadership qualities that make him a standout among other officers. His consistent work ethic and experience has gained him great respect and positive influence amongst his peers.
Greg‘s greatest accomplishment in 2017 was his leadership in guiding the Bloomington A.C.E.S., (Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Section) which was created to address the growing drug problem throughout our local communities. This team, under Greg’s supervision is making a significant difference in the fight against drugs. In 2017, the A.C.E.S. developed 752 criminal defendants and 1,942 total criminal charges which included 878 felonies. Due to the success of Greg’s team, the Indiana State Police implemented this type of team policing throughout the state in 2017.
Greg routinely assists other officers and agencies with numerous criminal investigations, vehicle crashes, and was an exceptional mentor for probationary officer‘s. Greg is a certified Crash Reconstructionist and is often called upon for his expertise in crash investigations.
