IMPD arrest two in unrelated weekend murders

On Saturday, May 26, 2018 shortly after 3:30 pm IMPD officers responded to 8015 Shibler Drive on a report of a person shot.  Upon arrival they located 25-year-old Shermarke Gibbs suffering from gunshot wounds.  Mr. Gibbs was transported to Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition.  Despite the best efforts of medical personnel, Shermarke Gibbs died a short time later.

Jerrontae Bell

On Sunday May 27,2018 Detectives with the IMPD Homicide Branch arrested  27-year-old Jerrontae Bell for The Murder of Shermarke Gibbs and Possession of Marijuana.

Jerrontae Bell was formally charged today May 30,2018 by The Marion County Prosecutors Office with Murder 35-42-1-1(1): and Possession of Marijuana, 35-48-4-11(a)(1)/MB

On Saturday, May 26, 2018 shortly after 7:30 a.m. Officers with The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) responded to 2057 Boulder Drive on a report of a person shot.  Upon arrival officers located an adult female suffering from  gunshot wounds. The female victim was identified as 61-year-old Mona Perkins of Indianapolis.  Mrs.Perkins was transported to St. Vincent Hospital in critical condition.  Despite the best efforts of medical personnel, Mona Perkins died a short time later.

Alvin Perkins

Detectives determined this incident was domestically related and not a random act.  63 year-old Alvin Perkins was arrested by Detectives on a preliminary charge of murder.

Today May 30, 2018 Alvin Perkins was formally charged with the Murder of Mona Perkins by The Marion County Prosecutors Office.
