Juvenile swimmer recovered from water at Pike Lake Beach

The body of a 5 year-old child was recovered this evening after going missing while swimming. 

At approximately 7:14 p.m., emergency personnel responded Pike Lake Beach in Warsaw, Indiana, after a child was reported missing in the water at the swim area.

Witnesses reported the boy was swimming in the public swim area near shore when he could not be located.  The boy was later found unresponsive by a family member near the public swimming pier in approximately five feet of water.

Emergency personnel from multiple departments responded to the area and provided CPR and lifesaving aid.

The boy was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital by paramedics, and later flown by Lutheran Air to Fort Wayne, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

The incident is still under investigation by Indiana Conservation Officers. 

Responding agencies include: Warsaw Police Department, Warsaw-Wayne Fire Department, Lutheran Hospital Paramedics, and Indiana Conservation Officers.
