Jim Pressel elected 2016 Indiana Builders Association President

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Indiana Builders Association (IBA) Board of Directors recently elected Jim Pressel to serve as 2016 president. He is the 64th president of the association.

Pressel is the owner of Pressel Enterprises located in LaPorte, Indiana. He is a Certified Graduate Builder and has been in the construction business for 24 years.

“Jim brings a wealth of experience to our association,” said IBA Chief Executive Officer Rick Wajda. “As the chief spokesperson for housing in 2016, Jim will direct the policy development for affordable housing and work for its implementation with the governor and Legislature.”

Pressel served as president of the Builders Association of LaPorte County for seven years and was on the board for 18 years. He was named LaPorte Builder of the Year in 2002 and 2006.

“It is an honor and a privilege to serve as the president of the Indiana Builders Association in 2016,” said Pressel. “I look forward to working together to ensure housing remains safe and affordable for all Hoosiers.”

Pressel helped start the New Prairie Building Trades vocational program that offers building trades classes to teach students the various elements of construction and has served on the board for nine years. He also served on the LaPorte County Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors for four years and currently serves on the LaPorte County Planning Commission.

Pressel grew up on a farm in LaPorte County, which his father and sister still run today. He and his wife Becky have been married for 34 years and have two children and two grandchildren.

Other senior officers elected by the IBA Board of Directors include Vice President Lance Swank, Mishawaka; Treasurer Pat Richard, Lafayette; and Secretary Don Thieneman, Floyds Knobs.
