Clay County – Indiana State Police initiated a criminal investigation on September 5, 2019, after receiving information that multiple employees of the Clay County Department of Child Services Office had received threats of bodily injury.
The investigation revealed that Jacinda A. Batchelor, age 32, and John D. Pastrick, age 25, both of Brazil, Indiana, allegedly threatened multiple employees of the Clay County Department of Child Services. Batchelor and Pastrick were at the Clay County Department of Child Services for a scheduled appointment in order to submit to a certified chemical test. During the test, both individuals became argumentative and confrontational with staff members, making verbal threats to do serious bodily harm to the staff and intimidating them with violent gestures.
After reviewing the investigation, the Clay County Prosecutor’s Office issued arrest warrants yesterday for both Batchelor and Pastrick. The individuals were arrested last night without incident by Troopers David Petrowski, David Cox, and Austin Fowler of the Putnamville State Police Post. The Owen County Sheriff’s Department assisted. Batchelor and Pastrick are being held in the Clay County Jail, each with a $7,000.00 bond.

Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
