IndyGo Returns to Regular Weekday Service Beginning June 1

INDIANAPOLIS (May 20, 2020) - IndyGo today announced its plan to return bus operations to regular service schedules.

Beginning Monday, June 1, IndyGo will resume operating on regular weekday schedules, Monday through Friday. Saturday and Sunday service will continue as usual.

IndyGo has been operating its service on Saturday schedules, Monday through Saturday, since March 29. This service reduction was part of the agency’s response to coronavirus, which also included temporarily suspending fare collection, installing plexiglass shields for bus operators, closing the Carson Transit Center lobby and restrooms, and increasing bus and facility cleanings. Operating on a reduced schedule allowed IndyGo staffing level flexibility needed each day to better protect employees and continue service.

Fare collection and front-door boarding were reinstated on Monday, May 4. The Carson Transit Center lobby and restrooms remain closed to the public currently, but the Customer Service retail desk is open during regularly scheduled hours with limited capacity for riders who need to purchase fare.  As we navigate through this pandemic, IndyGo will continue to monitor ridership and evaluate routes and schedules.

“While we’re returning to our regular schedules, our operation is not the same as it was before the start of this pandemic,” said Inez Evans, President and CEO of IndyGo. “We’ve installed new protections for our operators and riders, and we are committed to continuing the increased cleaning and sanitation processes that we’ve implemented.”     Riders are asked to continue to leave space between themselves and other riders whenever possible and to wear a face covering onboard if they are able.  Learn more about IndyGo’s response to the coronavirus at indygo.net/health.
