Indianapolis Man Arrested on Several Drug Charges

Indianapolis, IN – Last night just before 11:00 Senior Trooper Joel Flores pulled a car over for running a stop sign on Breen Drive at east 38th Street. The vehicle was found to be stolen, the driver was wanted on six active arrest warrants and drugs were located in the vehicle.

During the course of the investigation Flores found 14 grams of heroin, 19 doses of Alprazolam, (a schedule 4 controlled substance) and five grams of marijuana. Items commonly used for dealing narcotics were also found in the car. As Trooper Flores checked the identification numbers on the vehicle it was determined the 2010 Dodge Charger was stolen from Brown County Indiana. The driver, 30 year old Delance Johnson of Indianapolis, had active arrest warrants through Marion County and Hamilton County. 

In addition to the warrants, Johnson was arrested on the preliminary charges of:

  • Dealing in a narcotic drug (heroin); IC: 35-48-4-1(e)(1), L2F
  • Possession of a narcotic drug (heroin); IC: 35-48-4-6(a), L4F
  • Vehicle Theft; 35-43-4-2, L6F
  • Dealing a Schedule IV Controlled Substance; IC: 35-48-4-3(c)(1), L6F
  • Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance; IC: 35-48-4-7(a), CAM (19 offenses)
  • Possession of Marijuana; IC: 35-48-4-11, CAM
  • Driving While Suspended; IC: 9-24-19-2, CAM
  • Operator Never Received; IC: 9-24-18-1, CCM

The charges listed above are merely accusations, actual criminal charges will be determined by the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office. All suspects are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in court.
