Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired Receives $150,000 Grant

Grant made possible by the Lions Clubs International Foundation and Indiana State Lions

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired recently received a $150,000 matching grant made available through the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) and the Indiana State Lions. The grant proceeds were utilized to provide assistive technology for the students served at and through the school. The school provides educational services to students who are blind, have low vision, are blind, or have low vision, with additional handicapping conditions from throughout the State of Indiana.

James Durst, Superintendent, of the school stated, “The generosity of the LCIF and the commitment and dedication of the board members of the Project for the Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired, along with the ongoing support of the Lions in the State of Indiana, truly has had a major impact on the students we serve. This grant has allowed the school to place state of the art, miniature closed circuit TV’s and handheld Braille technology access equipment into the hands of our students which will allow them to retrieve and utilize information and more fully participate in instructional opportunities”.
