Indiana Department of Child Services Appoints Sam Criss as Deputy Director of Services and Outcomes

Sam Criss 2 w captionINDIANAPOLIS (March 9, 2016)—The Indiana Department of Child Services (DCS) has appointed Sam Criss as Deputy Director for the Indiana DCS Services and Outcomes.

“Sam will be a great addition to our team.  In his current role, Sam will build on the leadership of Lisa Rich and continue to ensure high fidelity services for the children and family we serve,” said Doris Tolliver, DCS’ Chief of Staff.

Criss is a native Hoosier, born in New Castle, Indiana.  He moved to Indianapolis in 1997.

Criss spent 20 years working in the areas of juvenile justice, mental health and child welfare. Most recently, Sam served as the President and CEO of Indiana Connected by 25, Inc. This Indianapolis-based nonprofit worked both locally and nationally to improve outcomes for youth transitioning from foster care. Prior to Indiana Connected by 25, Inc., Sam worked as a Consultant and later State Director of foster care for Dunn Community Mental Health Center, where he managed statewide services.

Criss received a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Ball State University.  He then received a Master of Business degree from Indiana Wesleyan.

He began his new duties February 8, 2016 and will be based out of the DCS Central office in Indianapolis.
