Ober was appointed to the Indiana Commission by Governor Eric Holcomb on April 2, 2018. He is a member of the NARUC Committee on Water and the Mid-America Regulatory Conference. Along with the NRRI board, he also serves on the Organization of PJM States, Inc. Board of Directors.

Commissioner Ober has held a variety of leadership positions throughout his career in state government, including service as a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, as Assistant Majority Whip for the House Republican Caucus (2014-2016) and as Chairman of the House Committee on Energy, Utilities and Telecommunications from 2016 to 2018.

“The work that NRRI is doing is critical to regulatory agencies across the country as they address the many issues facing the industry,” said Ober. “I’m thrilled to lend my support to the institute as a board member.”

“Commissioner Ober has a clear understanding of NRRI’s strategic goals and the value of research-driven analysis for state regulators,” said NRRI Board Chair ToNola Brown-Bland, Commissioner for the North Carolina Utilities Commission. “His leadership experience and other utility-related memberships make him an excellent addition to our board.”

“I am pleased to congratulate Commissioner Ober on his appointment to the NRRI Board of Directors,” said NARUC President Nick Wagner, of the Iowa Utilities Board. “Commissioner Ober will continue the mission of NRRI and see that NARUC members benefit from the practical tools, analyses and insights provided by NRRI.”
