Southwest District narcotic detectives were provided information about a man selling narcotics on the west side of Indianapolis. After several weeks of investigative techniques, detectives secured a search warrant for the residence. On June 10th, prior to the execution of the search warrant, the target, 28-year-old Brandon Day, was stopped in a vehicle a short distance from his residence. Mr. Day was armed when he was taken into custody. Detectives were then able to safely execute the search warrant without damage to the residence. During the search of the house detectives seized:
- 1.5 pounds of methamphetamine;
- 10 grams of heroin;
- $11,000 in cash;
- One stolen AK-47 assault rifle; and
- Two handguns.
“Officers of the Southwest District are unified and committed to ensuring safety and security in our neighborhoods by identifying and apprehending persons involved in narcotics trafficking or illegally possessing firearms,” said Southwest District Commander Michael Spears. “The work of the officers involved in this significant arrest and seizure of dangerous, often deadly drugs reflects the dedication to duty our entire police department has to ensuring public safety. It also reflects the highest ideals and standards of law enforcement and service to others.”
On June 14th, Brandon Day was formally charged with Dealing in Methamphetamine, Dealing in a Narcotic, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of a Narcotic, and Possession of Marijuana.
