U. S. Military Veteran Indiana Property Tax Credit Workshop

American Legion Colonel Billie J Holmes Memorial Post 331 will host a free “United States Military Veteran’s Indiana Property Tax Credit Workshop. presented by the Hendricks County Veteran’s Service Office and the Hendricks County Auditor’s Office on Saturday August 29th, 2026 at 1 p.m. The workshop will be presented at Post 331, 636 East Main Street, Brownsburg, IN 46112.
The informational workshop is designed to ensure US military veterans and their families understand benefits available to them.
The property tax credit is available to veterans who have been awarded at least a 10% VA Service Connected Disability.
To qualify, the service member must have lived in Indiana for at least 1 year and the home being claimed must be the veterans primary property.
The tax credits are graduated: $250.00 credit for veterans who are at least 10% service connected disability, over 62 years of age and have served at least 90 days active military duty and were honorably discharged. A $350.00 credit is offered to those veterans who qualify at the $250.00 but also served during time of hostilities as sited by the Department of War. These credits can be stacked together for a total of $600.00 yearly property tax credit.
100% Service Connected VA Disabled veterans are also eligible, credit will be discussed at the workshop.
If you qualify for any of these credits and have not yet filed at the Hendricks County Veterans Service Officer’s office, please consider attending this workshop.
You must bring your DD-214, Report of Separation, and your latest VA disability award letter. After a quick briefing, there will be Veteran Service
Officers (VSOs) available for you to sit with and check your eligibility and process your tax credit with the county Auditor’s office.
Spouses of service connected disability veterans who have passed are also eligible for this tax credit; please ensure you have the veteran’s DD-214 the last VA Service Connected Disability letter issued and death certificate.
