IMPD Investigating Indianapolis East Side Homicide

INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) homicide detectives are investigating a shooting that has left a man dead.

Shortly before 10:30 p.m., an IMPD officer was notified by a concerned citizen of a person down in the 3000 block of Eastern Avenue.  When the officer arrived, an unidentified male was located lying in the street with an apparent gunshot wound.  The victim was rushed to IU Methodist Hospital in critical condition.  Despite best life-saving efforts of medical staff at the hospital, the male victim, identified as 18-year-old Da’Michael Forrest of Indianapolis, was pronounced deceased.  

Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances that led up to the shooting and have not yet released any suspect information.  The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency processed the crime scene for forensic evidence. The Marion County Coroner’s Office will perform an autopsy to determine a cause and manner of death.  Investigators urge anyone with information about this incident to call Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at (317) 262-TIPS (8477).  All information shared via Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana is considered anonymous.
