IMPD investigates a suspicious death on northeast side of Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS – Detectives are investigating the suspicious death of a man found shot on the city’s northeast side.

On February 29, 2016, at approximately 10:12 P.M., officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to the 4000 block of Malibu Drive on the report of a person shot. Officers arrived and found a male victim, later identified as 50-year-old Rito Llamas-Juarez, suffering from a gunshot wound.  EMS personnel arrived and transported Llamas-Juarez to Eskenazi Hospital, where he died a short time later.  Detectives learned Llamas-Juarez was actually shot in the 3900 block of Breen Drive and driven back to the residence on Malibu Drive.

IMPD Homicide detectives responded to the scene to begin their investigation and speak with potential witnesses. Several witnesses were transported to the IMPD Homicide office for questioning. The Marion County Forensic Service Agency responded to the scene to begin processing and gathering forensic evidence.  The Marion County Coroner will determine a cause and manner of death after an autopsy has been performed.
