INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department homicide detectives are investigating a shooting that has killed a man on the city’s east side.
Just before 5:30 p.m., officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) were dispatched to the 700 blk. of N. Grant Ave. reference a person shot. When officers arrived, they found a male victim inside a residence suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Despite the best life-saving efforts of EMS personnel, the victim was pronounced deceased while at the scene.
Detectives have identified the victim as 37-year-old Dejuan Williams of Indianapolis. Detectives believe the victim likely knew his assailants.
Detectives are canvassing the area for additional information and have not yet released any reliable suspect information. The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency is processing the scene for forensic evidence. The victim will be positively identified by the Marion County Coroner’s Office. Upon notification of the victim’s next-of-kin, his name will be made public. If additional information becomes available this release may be updated.
