IMPD Homicide & Violent Crimes Detectives are seeking help from the community

INDIANAPOLIS – On Saturday, March 12, 2016 Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) were called to 5203 E. 38th St. on a person shot.  When officers arrived they located 70-year-old Joseph Klein who had been shot.   Klein was transported to Eskenazi Hospital by Indianapolis EMS in critical condition.  Despite the best life-saving efforts by medical staff, Klein died from his injuries.

Homicide detectives worked tirelessly on the case and were able to identify 23-year-old Corey Spurlock who is suspected to be involved in the fatal shooting.  A warrant for Murder and Robbery Resulting in Bodily Injury has been issued for the arrest of Corey Spurlock.   Homicide Detectives along with Violent Crimes Detectives are asking for the community’s help in locating Corey Spurlock.  Spurlock should be treated as armed and dangerous.  Please do not approach him, immediately call 911.

A charge of a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
