INDIANAPOLIS –On March 16, 2018, at 12:30 p.m., Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) responded to 2200 block of N. Illinois on a report of a person shot. Officers located an unresponsive male with apparent gunshot wounds laying on the side walk near the business.
Medics arrived a short time later and pronounced the victim decease. Homicide detectives were called to the scene, and immediately began canvassing the area for witnesses. The shooter was identified, detained and transported to the IMPD Homicide office for questioning.
Investigators believe this is an isolated event and not a random act.
The Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to assist with identifying and collecting potential forensic evidence. The Marion County Coroner’s Office (MCCO) will be assisting and will determine the exact manner and cause of death. The name of the victim can be obtained from the MCCO after proper next-of-kin notification has been made.
