IMPDINDIANAPOLIS – Detectives with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) quickly make an arrest after a domestic disturbance leads to a fatal stabbing.

Shortly after 11 p.m. on June 21st, IMPD officers responded to a person stabbed in the 7100 block of Warrior Trail. Officers found 30-year-old Eric Bonds suffering from multiple stab wounds.  EMS personnel pronounced Bonds deceased at the scene.

Officers noticed a large amount of blood throughout the residence and signs of a physical altercation. Officers located 44-year-old Gregory Smith inside of the residence.  Officers detained Smith until homicide detectives arrived at the residence. After consultation with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office, detectives arrested Smith for his alleged involvement in the death of Eric Bonds.  Smith was preliminarily arrested for one count of Murder. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will review this case for a charging decision.

Homicide detectives urge anyone with additional information on this case to contact Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at (317) 262-TIPS (8477).
