IMPD Homicide Detectives Make Arrest in Overnight Homicide

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) arrested 29-year old Andre Johnson for his alleged involvement in an overnight shooting.

On January 30, 2022, just after 8:30PM IMPD East District officers were dispatched to 10204 Aristocrat Drive North on a report of a person shot.  Officers arrived on scene and located an adult male outside the above address suffering injuries consistent with a gunshot wound(s). IEMS responded and unfortunately pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. 

IMPD Homicide Detectives responded to the scene to begin the investigation. The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to assist in identifying and collecting potential forensic evidence.  The Marion County Coroner’s Office will be assisting and will determine the exact manner and cause of death. The MCCO will release the name of the decedent once proper next-of-kin notification has been made.

Detectives continued their investigation and hours after the incident, identified 29- year- old Andre Johnson as the alleged suspect. Detectives, with the assistance of the Special Weapons and Tactics team, located Johnson in the 900 block of Drexel Ave and took him into custody without further incident. Johnson was arrested for murder. Detectives do not believe there is any threat to the public.

The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will make the final charging decision.

An arrest is merely an accusation.  The suspect is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
