IMPD Homicide Detectives Make a Quick Arrest in Homicide Investigation

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) detectives identified and arrested a man on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 for his alleged involvement in a homicide investigation.

On Wednesday, January 26, 2022, just after 2:00 p.m., IMPD East District officers were dispatched to 3731 N. Shadeland Ave room 236 for a report of a person shot.  Officers arrived and located an adult male with injuries consist with a gunshot wound.  The male was transported to Eskenazi hospital in critical condition. Despite life-saving techniques, he was pronounced deceased by medical staff shortly after arriving at the hospital.

IMPD Homicide detectives responded to the scene and began their investigation. Preliminary information lead detectives to believe there was a brief disturbance just before shots were fired inside the hotel room.  As other officers patrolled the area, they observed a male walking in the area of East 38th Street at N. Elizabeth Street that fit the description of the suspect. Officers were able to detain the male and he was transported to IMPD Homicide office for questioning. The Marion County Coroner’s Office assisted and will determine the exact manner and cause of death. The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded and assisted in identifying and collecting potential forensic evidence.  

After continued investigation IMPD Homicide detectives arrested the detained male for Murder and on an unrelated warrant for Robbery.

An arrest is merely an accusation.  The suspect is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will make the final charging decisions. The male involved in this case is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
