IMPD Homicide detectives investigating after man succumbs to gunshot wounds

INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department(IMPD) Homicide detectives are investigating after man is shot to death.

Just before 3 a.m. on 01/29/2017, officers with the IMPD were dispatched to the 100 block of E Market St on reports of a person shot. Responding officers located an unresponsive male victim with an apparent gunshot wound. EMS personnel responded and transported the victim to Eskenazi Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries despite the best life-saving efforts.

Homicide detectives responded and began canvassing the area for witnesses. The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to assist in identifying and collecting possible forensic evidence. The victim’s name will be released once their next-of-kin has been notified.
