IMPD Hit and Run Detectives Seek Public Assistance Locating a Hit and Run Vehicle

INDIANAPOLIS –  Just after 6:00 p.m., on Sunday, April 26, 2020, North District officers were dispatched to the 1800 block of E. 80th Street on a report of Hit and Run Accident. Upon arrival, officers were informed that Greg Pitzer was driving with his family west on E. 80th Street, near Oakland Road when he stopped to retrieve an item left at the side of the road. Mr. Pitzer pulled his vehicle into a driveway off of 80th Street and got out to retrieve the item, but when he was at the rear of the his SUV he was struck by another vehicle.

The other vehicle had been traveling west on 80th Street from Lincoln Boulevard and veered off the roadway before striking Mr. Pitzer.  After the crash the striking vehicle, determined to be a white 2014-2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee, fled the scene west on 80th Street without the driver stopping to provide information or aid.  Mr. Pitzer suffered severe internal injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital by Indianapolis EMS where he remains in critical condition.

Investigators concluded the Jeep will have extensive damage along the passenger side of the vehicle, including a missing passenger side mirror assembly.
