IMPD hit and run detectives seek public assistance in fatal hit and run

INDIANAPOLIS-On Thursday, October 8th, 2020, at approximately 9:10 am, Southeast IMPD officers responded to S. Sherman Drive and Pleasant Run Parkway S. Drive on a report of a personal injury hit & run crash involving a bicyclist.  Upon arrival, officers learned the bicyclist, had been struck by an SUV which fled the scene north on Sherman Drive after the collision without the driver stopping to provide aid or information. The victim suffered devastating injuries from the collision and remains in the hospital in grave condition.

Hit and Run Detectives discovered the striking vehicle (pictured below) had been traveling east on English Avenue and turned north on S. Sherman Drive before the collision.  The striking vehicle is a gold or tan late 1990’s to early 2000’s Chevrolet Tahoe or GMC Yukon (which are very similar models), and has some unique features highlighted with red arrows: the wheels on the suspect vehicle are after market; the side mirrors are over-sized or “tow mirrors”; and the hood has a distinct scoop or raised area in the center.

Anyone with information about this incident should call the IMPD Hit and Run Office at 317.327.6549 or Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317.262.8477 or (TIPS).  Citizens can also download the mobile P3tips app for Apple or Android phones to submit a mobile tip, or go to www.CrimeTips.org to submit a web tip. You will remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1000 if the information leads to a felony arrest.  Only tips submitted directly and anonymously to Crime Stoppers are eligible for these cash rewards.
