IMPD Hit-and-Run detectives look for a suspect in a hit-and-run crash that killed 23-year-old female

IMPD detectives are asking the public’s help finding 31-year-old Demarco Mathews of Indianapolis.  The suspect is accused leaving the scene of a fatal accident on February 3, 2016, in the 3800 block of East New York Street.

On February 11, 2016, detectives obtained a warrant charging Mathews with leaving the scene of an accident causing death, a Level 5 Felony.

Detectives allege that Mathews was operating a vehicle that was involved in a one vehicle crash.  The front seat passenger, Antoinette Johnson, died as a result of her injuries from the crash.  Mathews fled the scene after the crash without rendering first aid to the victim or notifying IMPD of the crash.

Anyone with information about the suspect’s whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Indiana at (317) 262-TIPS (8477).  Information shared via Crime Stoppers is considered anonymous.
