IMPD detectives seek public’s help in locating suspect in road rage shooting

INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) Aggravated Assault detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in locating suspect(s) and suspect vehicle in alleged road rage shooting that occurred on the city’s south side.

Just before 9:30 p.m. on 02/24/2019, officers with the IMPD were dispatched to the gas station at Raymond St and S Keystone Ave on reports of a person shot. Responding officers located a female victim seated in the back of a Chevy Trailblazer, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound(s). EMS personnel responded and transported the victim to Eskenazi Hospital in stable condition. The victim was treated and later released from the hospital.

Aggravated Assault detectives responded and immediately began interviewing potential witnesses. During the course of their investigation, detectives learned that the Trailblazer the victim was in had been involved in an alleged road rage incident with a silver Nissan. The suspect allegedly chased the Trailblazer north on S Keystone Ave.  The suspect then pulled up next to the Trailblazer near the 1600 block of S Keystone Ave, allegedly fired shots, striking the victim and then fled the area. The Trailblazer then went to the gas station at Keystone and Raymond and awaited police arrival.

Detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect and silver Nissan with a possible covered bridge plate, that has a plate number beginning with letters. Detectives are also looking to identify a potential witness who was driving a gray Dodge Charger with possible police plates.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact the Aggravated Assault Office at 317.327.3366 or Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317.262.8477 or (TIPS).  Citizens can also download the mobile P3tips app for Apple or Android phones to submit a mobile tip, or go to www.CrimeTips.org to submit a web tip.
