IMPD Detectives Arrest Indianapolis Man for Homicide

INDIANAPOLIS –  On July 8, 2020, just before 6:36 p.m.., Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. (IMPD) East District were dispatched to 2142 N Spencer on a check the welfare run.  Officers arrived, entered the residence and located 46-year-old James Hayden suffering from undisclosed trauma about his body.  IEMS responded and pronounced Mr. Hayden deceased at the scene.

Homicide Detectives responded and immediately began canvassing the area for witnesses.  Investigative information led Detectives to 47-year-old Ronald Collins of Indianapolis. Collins was taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail on July 8,2020.

A charge of a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
