IMPD Detectives and the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force Make Arrest in Serial Bank Robbery Case

INDIANAPOLIS-During October 2022, IMPD robbery detectives and the FBI began investigating four robberies of banks, involving a female suspect. In November of 2022, the IMPD/FBI Violent Crimes Task Force developed two possible suspects through special investigative techniques.

On Thursday, December 8, 2022, the Chase Bank located at 4710 E. 10th Street was robbed and investigators were able to identify an alleged suspect. With the assistance of IMPD Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), covert robbery detectives, Violent Reduction Team (VRT), Violent Crimes Unit (VCU), IMPD North, Northwest, and Northeast Districts, the suspect vehicle was stopped in the 2500 block of LaSalle Street.

Both alleged suspects were later identified as 31-year-old Ashley Thompson and 25-year-old Tazhane Brooks were taken into custody without further incident. Both suspects are allegedly involved in the following cases:

The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office (MCPO) will make the final charging decisions.

A charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
