INDIANAPOLIS – On Saturday, March 19th, officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were called to the VA Hospital to help three juvenile males who were threatened by a man with a gun. At nearly the same time, the IUPUI Police Department was dispatched to the nearby area to investigate a man with a gun. When IUPUI police arrived at their dispatched run, they located a man who matched the description and detained him for investigation.
The IMPD officers who responded to the VA Hospital, interviewed the three victims and learned the teenagers were threatened by a man with a gun. The teens told officers they were walking east near Michigan Street and White River Parkway when the felt they were being followed by a man. When the group turned around and checked, the man began running after them and pulled out a gun. The teens ran over the bridge and soon lost the man. They ran into the hospital and called for help.
Officers quickly realized the IMPD run was related to the man stopped by the IUPUI officers and he was identified by the victims. The suspect, 21-year-old Deon Taylor, was arrested for felony level Intimidation and transported to the Arrestee Processing Center.
