I-74 project resumes work next week to improve ten bridges in Montgomery County

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation announces a project to replace ten bridges on I-74 in Montgomery County will resume work on or after Tuesday, April 2, weather permitting. The contractor will begin with paving operations in the westbound lanes that will have traffic down to one lane.

Motorists will be shifted into one lane in each direction in the westbound lanes during the second week of April from just west of U.S. 231 to just east of State Road 32.

This project includes replacing the decks on the bridges over Little Sugar Creek, Sugar Creek, the CSX Railroad, U.S. 231 and over Black Creek.  ICC Group, Inc. was awarded the $14.6 million project.  The contractor will be replacing the eastbound bridges during this construction season. The contract completion date is scheduled in May of 2020.

INDOT reminds motorists to follow the posted work zone speed limit, use caution and consider worker safety when traveling through a construction zone.
