I-65 Closure in Downtown Indianapolis July 1-Aug 5

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) would like to remind Indianapolis residents and those expected to travel through the Indianapolis area between July 1st and August 5th, 2018, that I-65 will be shut down in both directions in the downtown area. The impacted area will be between 21st and Meridian St. Those who normally utilize I-65 are advised to seek alternate routes. More information on the closure can be found here:

If you live and/or work in the downtown area, some recommended local routes are as follows:
To continue South from I-65, into the downtown area:

  • Exit at 21st St.
  • Go west to Dr. MLK Jr Blvd
  • Go south to downtown

To continue North from I-65 (NB)

  • Exit on Meridian.
  • Go west to Illinois
  • Go north to 21st
  • Take 21st to I-65

Please share this information with all people in your circle to ensure proper travel planning for the upcoming closure. Please do not attempt to drive around barricades or officers that may be stationed at on-ramps. The IMPD appreciates your patience, planning, and safe driving during this closure.
