Hoosier dairy association’s Indy airport displays named among world’s best by out-of-home ad industry source

INDIANAPOLIS IN — Indianapolis International Airport (IND to those in the know) is long accustomed to collecting “best of” accolades. The facility is consistently named tops in its category by organizations that rank airports throughout the US.

This time, however, it’s a couple of displays located inside the airport that has garnered recognition.

The American Dairy Association Indiana (ADAI) “Winners Drink Milk” displays at IND have been cited by OOH Today – the leading online source for news and information about the worldwide out-of-home advertising & billboard industry – as among its Top 10 Most Creative Executions of the Week. ADAI’s companions in this elite group include The Coca-Cola Bottling Company, Tiffany & Co., Showtime, M&Ms, and Tommy Hilfiger.

The dairy association’s displays – located in Terminals A & B near TSA security checkpoints – feature graphics that enable airport visitors to “picture” themselves in the iconic Indianapolis 500 Victory Circle Bottle of Milk celebration. Nearby banners that read “Welcome to Indy – Commemorate Your Visit with MILK!” show two-time Indy 500 winner Takuma Sato and defending race champion Marcus Ericsson celebrating in Victory Circle with the traditional Bottles of Milk. Graphics depicting a winner’s podium and the milk pour provide background elements for memorable photos.

The Winners Drink Milk displays were created by ADAI with Lamar Airport Advertising, and will be at Indianapolis International until Labor Day.

“The Victory Circle Bottle of Milk Tradition at the 500-Mile Race is recognized worldwide as a symbol not only of the race but of Indianapolis and Indiana,” said Jenni Browning, CEO of the association that represents approximately 700 Indiana dairy farm families. “From the mid-1930s, when legendary driver Louis Meyer pulled into Victory Circle and asked for a glass of buttermilk to quench his thirst, milk has been associated with the greatest race in the world.

“Our Indiana dairy farm families are proud to play in integral role in the Indy 500, and we’re equally proud to welcome visitors to Indianapolis in this fun and festive manner!”

So next time you’re passing through IND, be sure to pause and take your very own winner’s podium photos! And when you share your shots on the various social media platforms, be sure to include the hashtag #WinnersDrinkMilk. Random travelers are selected by the dairy association to receive Winners Drink Milk swag bags – and it could be you!
