Hit & Run Detectives arrest a man after leaving the scene of a fatal accident in February

INDIANAPOLIS – Just after 3:00 a.m., on Saturday, February 24, 2018, officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to the 4000 block of Southeastern Avenue reference a Hit and Run accident.  When officers arrived they learned that two pedestrians were struck while walking along the road. The driver of the vehicle then drove off in an unknown direction.

IFD firefighters along with IEMS medical personnel assisted in treating 30-year-old Joseph Nordstrom and 36-year-old Angie Ruhlig at the scene.  Despite the best life-saving efforts by emergency medical staff, Joseph Nordstrom succumbed to his injuries.  IMPD Fatal Accident Detectives responded and took over the investigation.

On March 6, 2018, 58-year-old Michael Lipscomb turned himself in at the Processing Center at the City-County Building.  IMPD Fatal Accident Detectives arrested Lipscomb for Failure to stop at an accident resulting in Death and Failure to stop at an accident resulting in Serious Bodily Injury. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office has made a charging decision in this case.
