Franklin Man Injured in ATV Accident (Johnson County)

Franklin – Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating an ATV accident that occur this afternoon in Franklin.  Christopher Sawyers, 57, of Franklin was operating an ATV on his property near the 1200 block of East King Street when the incident occurred.

At approximately 1:00 p.m., Sawyers, who was moving his ATV, that was equipped with a snow plow, from his garage to another part of his property when the plow caught the ground while operating through a ditch.  This caused Sawyers to be thrown forward off the ATV.  Sawyers suffered lacerations to his face and eyes due to striking the plow blade.

Franklin Fire and EMS were able to arrive on scene within minutes and transported Sawyer to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

Sawyers was not wearing any type of protective gear when the accident took place.  His injuries are not life threatening, but he is expected to undergo surgery for his injuries.

Indiana Conservation Officers were assisted on the scene by Franklin Police, Fire and EMS.
