Former Avon Police Officer Arrested as a Result of a Domestic Incident

Coatesville- On 04/4/2023 at approximately 4:00pm Hendricks County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to South Co Rd 550W near Coatesville to investigate the report of a delayed domestic dispute that had occurred over the weekend. As a result of that investigation, criminal charges, supported by a probable cause affidavit, were filed in Hendricks County and an arrest warrant was issued for Alexander Howell, 31, of Coatesville.

On 4/5/2023 at approximately 9:10pm Alexander Howell was located at a residence in the 5400 block of Co Rd 50S in Howard County, Indiana by the Howard County Sheriff’s Office and was taken into custody without incident.  He was then transported to the Hendricks County Jail on the outstanding warrant for the criminal offenses of Domestic Battery, a class a misdemeanor, Strangulation, a level 6 felony, and Criminal Confinement, a level 5 felony.  Currently, Howell is being held without bond. 

According to a statement issued by the Avon Police Department, Alexander Howell is a former police officer with their agency and they are aware of the arrest.  Deputy Chief Brian Nugent reports that Howell was an officer with their agency from 2015 until September of 2022 when he resigned for personal reasons.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
