Fleeing Suspect Found to be Wanted on Child Molestation Warrant

Indianapolis, IN- An Indianapolis man was arrested on several charges after initially attempting to flee an Indiana State Trooper.

On Monday, December 28th at approximately 10:30 p.m., Probationary Trooper Cameron Bottema was patrolling with his field training officer, Trooper Jonathan Caddell, on Shelby Street near Berwyn Street and observed a vehicle without the headlights in use. Trooper Cameron activated the emergency lights and the vehicle fled sideswiping a parked car and disregarding several stop signs before coming to a stop in the 1000 block of East Albany Street.

The driver, Joshua Finch, 21, of Indianapolis and his front seat female passenger were removed from the car and secured. During the course of the investigation troopers learned that Finch was wanted on a warrant from Morgan County for Child Molestation and a Marion County Warrant for Failure to register as a Sex Offender. Troopers also located a loaded handgun under the front passenger seat.

Finch was arrested on the two outstanding warrants Class 6 Felonies, Resisting Law Enforcement Class 6 Felony and Felon in Possession of a Firearm Class 4 Felony. He was transported to the Marion County Arrestee Processing Center without incident.

The female passenger was not wanted on any warrants and was released at the scene.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law
