Dec 6, 2017–Vermillion County—Last night at 9:10, Indiana State Police Trooper Chuck Murphy (unmarked commission) was patrolling northbound on State Road 63 near County Road 300 South, when he was passed by a northbound 2012 Chevrolet pickup driven by 41-year-old William Sadler of Perry, Florida. The pickup was clocked at 73 miles-per-hour in a 60mph zone.
During the traffic stop, Trooper Murphy located two handguns, a Smith and Wesson .40 caliber and a Smith and Wesson .45 caliber, in the center console of the truck.
Further investigation revealed William Sadler was a convicted felon. Sadler was taken into custody and incarcerated in the Vermillion County Jail on one count of Felon in Possession of a Firearm and one-count Possession of a Firearm without a Permit.
Assisting during the stop were Vermillion County Sheriff’s deputies Troy Vaughn and Tim Dispennett.
Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
