Farmland Conservation Program Registration Open

With decreasing commodity prices the norm, farmers may want to enroll marginally productive cropland in the Conservation Reserve Program and counter their losses.

At the same time, they will boost local conservation efforts.

Enrollment ends Feb. 26, 2016.

CRP participants can establish long-term grasses or trees to control soil erosion, improve water quality and develop wildlife habitat on approved land. Farm Service Agency provides rental payments and cost-share assistance.

CRP contracts run 10-15 years.
