Downtown Detectives Arrest Several People Over The Weekend on Gun Charges

INDIANAPOLIS-Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) Downtown District Violent Crime Task Force (VCTF) detectives, with the assistance of other officers, made four arrests related to illegal possession/use of firearms over this past weekend.  They also recovered four firearms that were used in crimes and a package of suspected narcotics.  Below are the dates, locations, and information on the persons arrested. 

 
09/17/2021         Weapon Violation           900 N Delaware Street                  Case# IP210096729

A discarded firearm was recovered, the investigation remains on-going.

09/18/2021         Weapon/Narcotics Arrest            365 S. Meridian Street                  Case# IP210097049

Arrested 23-year-old John Kouns for a felony level possession of cocaine and 26-year-old Zachary Woodrum for possession of cocaine and possession of a handgun without a permit.

09/19/2021         Weapon Violation/Crim Recklessness   126 S. Meridian Street      Case# IP210097068

Arrested 34-year-old Dominque John for a felony level criminal recklessness.      

09/19/2021         Weapon Violation           365 S. Meridian Street                  Case# IP210097119

 Arrested 23-year-old Cameron Jones for a felony level possession of a handgun.

The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will review these cases and make all final charging decisions.  All individuals arrested should be considered innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

IMPD continues working with the businesses and residents of the city to make downtown a safe and welcoming space for people to live, work and visit.
