Vigo County – Friday morning at approximately 10:00 a.m., officers from the Putnamville State Police Post responded to a crash between two semi tractor-trailers that occurred on Interstate 70 westbound at the eleven mile marker that sent one driver to the hospital.
The preliminary crash investigation by Master Trooper Hans Nowak, of the Putnamville Post, revealed that Brandon S. McCullough, age 31, of Terre Haute, IN, was driving a 2016 Volvo tractor-trailer westbound in the driving lane on Interstate 70 near the eleven mile marker, when he failed to recognize a 2020 Freightliner tractor-trailer that was traveling in the same lane, driven by Zaryonla T. Cheyee, age 32, of South Bend, IN. McCullough became distracted by pouring a drink into a cup and rear ended Cheyee’s semi, causing both vehicles to become disabled in the driving lane of Interstate 70.
Cheyee, was transported from the crash scene, via ambulance, to Regional Hospital in Terre Haute, with non-life threatening injuries.
McCullough was cited for speed too fast to avoid collision.
