INDIANAPOLIS – Detectives make an arrest in Monday night shooting that left one man dead on the city’s east side.
Just 8:00 p.m. officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) were dispatched to the 6500 block of East 25th Street reference a person shot. Officers observed a silver vehicle leaving the scene of the shooting area at a high rate of speed heading south on Kitley Avenue. A passer-by notified officers that the silver vehicle might have a victim from the shooting in it. Officers were able to stop the vehicle at the intersection of 21st Street and Arlington Avenue. Officers located a victim, later identified as 24-year-old Deontae Davis of Indianapolis, suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Unfortunately, the victim was pronounced deceased by EMS personnel at the scene.
Detectives later develop information that 25-year-old Jamarr Edmond was involved and a possible shooter. The suspect was brought down to the IMPD Headquarters and questioned and was later arrested on a preliminary charge of Murder. The suspect was transported to the Arrestee Processing Center to be processed. It is believed that two separate groups of people were engaging in an argument just before the shooting. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will review the case for charging decision.
