Detectives investigate the suspicious death of a 40-year-old female victim

INDIANAPOLIS – Detectives with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department are investigating the suspicious death of a 40-year-old female earlier this morning.

Just after 3:30 a.m., IMPD was sent to the 5600 block of Dobbs Ferry Drive reference a person shot. When officers arrived, they found an unresponsive female later identified as Nerva Singleton of Indianapolis suffering from at least one gunshot wound.  EMS personnel arrived and pronounced the victim deceased on the scene. The victim’s children, who were uninjured, were believed to be home at the time of the shooting.

Detectives have canvassed the area for additional information, and the Indianapolis Marion-County Forensic Services Agency has processed the crime scene for forensic evidence.  Detectives have not yet released any reliable suspect or motive information.
