Community Tips and Search Warrant Yield Arrest

Vigo County—At approximately 2:00 Thursday afternoon April 26, investigators with the Indiana State Police Drug Enforcement Section and the Meth Suppression Section, served a Vigo County Court Division 6 search warrant at 2864 Professional Lane, Terre Haute.

Once inside the apartment, officers discovered approximately one pound of suspected Marijuana, $20,000 in US Currency, one rifle and two .40 caliber handguns. All of the weapons were loaded with ammunition.

Darren K. Hopkins

Darren K. Hopkins, age 25, of the address was taken into custody and transported to the Vigo County Jail. Hopkins was preliminarily charged with Dealing Marijuana; Possession of Marijuana; Maintaining a Common Nuisance, and Neglect of a Dependent (Hopkins young son frequents the residence, but was not there at the time of the warrant service).

Community tips and other investigative information led to the issuing of the search warrant.

Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
