PARIS – Senator Dan Coats (R-Ind.), a member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, today issued the following statement regarding the attacks in Brussels:
“Sadly, another of the world’s great cities has been victimized by cowardly acts of violence. I offer my deepest condolences to the families affected by this senseless tragedy, and I ask Hoosiers to join me in praying for Belgium and its citizens.
“At this critical time, the United States must stand together with our European allies to address the escalating security challenges that we face. Our country must engage with leaders throughout the world to address the ever-spreading threat of terrorism. We also must take steps to strengthen our border security and entry procedures to protect our homeland from domestic terrorist attacks. The battle against terrorism and extremism will not be fought only in the Middle East and cannot be won through diplomacy alone.”
