Central Indiana Community Foundation Donates $35,000 to Indianapolis Public Transportation Foundation

INDIANAPOLIS (Monday, March 2, 2020) — The Central Indiana Community Foundation (CICF) today made a significant donation to the Indianapolis Public Transportation Foundation in the amount of $35,000.

CICF has been a crucial partner in helping the Indianapolis Public Transportation Foundation become operational. The Indianapolis Public Transportation Foundation is headquartered at the CICF’s Downtown Indianapolis location, and the CICF manages the fund.

“We are thrilled to have our first major donation come from such a strong supporter and partner,” said Roscoe Brown, Executive Director of the Indianapolis Public Transportation Foundation. “CICF has a wealth of knowledge, with over 100 years of fundraising and management experience, and the staff has been an invaluable resource to us as we begin our own Foundation.”

CICF and IndyGo currently work together on mobility initiatives such as the Personal Mobility Network, which connects mobility providers throughout the Indianapolis area to support and develop new tools for those who have limited access to transportation services.

“This donation sends a clear signal to the legislature that there is strong community support for transit,” said Brian Payne, President & CEO of CICF. “For people to access more equitable opportunities, they need to have a way of getting there. Transit, as well as improved pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure, is that connection.”

This donation marks the first major donation to the Indianapolis Public Transportation Foundation since the Board of Directors was formally approved by IndyGo’s Board of Directors on February 27, 2020. Those interested in making a donation to the Indianapolis Public Transportation Foundation can do so at https://www.cicf.org/giving/give-now/agency-fund/ by selecting “Indianapolis Public Transportation Foundation Fund.”
