Central Indiana Community Foundation Celebrates OrthoIndy Foundation $10 Million Grant Milestone

Indianapolis, IN – Central Indiana Community Foundation (CICF) is thrilled to congratulate OrthoIndy Foundation, a fund of CICF, in awarding over $10 million to the community. This remarkable achievement reflects the OrthoIndy Foundation’s unwavering commitment to improving the lives of Central Indiana residents.

Over the past 12 years, the OrthoIndy Foundation has provided support to numerous nonprofit organizations through its strategic grantmaking process. More than 840 grants have been awarded, benefiting more than 200 grantees. Notably, approximately 700 of these grants have been employee match contributions, totaling around $1.15 million.

Established in December 2012, the OrthoIndy Foundation operates under the guidance of the OIF Advisory Committee in collaboration with CICF. This partnership ensures that the OrthoIndy Foundation’s philanthropic activities align with its strategic pillars and focus areas. To be eligible for funding, recipients must be 501(c)3 organizations that demonstrate a positive impact on the community and a strong alignment with the OrthoIndy Foundation’s mission.

The OrthoIndy Foundation’s areas of focus include mobility and orthopedic issues, with a priority on end users and maximizing individual impact. The foundation’s efforts primarily benefit central Indiana, with a special emphasis on supporting veterans whenever possible.

Through its support of nonprofit organizations, the OrthoIndy Foundation has made a profound difference in the lives of central Indiana residents. Examples of its impact include:

  • Construction of ramps to enhance accessibility
  • Provision of specialized equipment for children’s participation in dance classes
  • Implementation of assistive technology for individuals with Cerebral Palsy
  • Expanding a mobile medical clinic program that serves low-income Hoosiers

In addition to awarding grants, the OrthoIndy Foundation generously matches 100% of charitable donations made by OrthoIndy employees. To date, the foundation has matched approximately 700 employee donations, totaling more than $1.15 million.

“Supporting the work of the OrthoIndy Foundation is an honor,” said Robin Elmerick, Sr. Director of Effective Philanthropy at CICF. “Working alongside Anthony Gioia and the rest of the staff and doctors on the advisory committee to allocate OIF’s resources, it is clear that they truly care about the organizations they support. Being good stewards of the fund and ensuring that the dollars they are investing into the community make an impact is important to them and it shows in the incredible impact they have had to date. We’re excited for this milestone and look forward to the future impact they will continue to make in central Indiana!”
